Once known as Gajanan Engineering Works, it was founded in 1965 and has since grown to become one of India's top 70 million dollar automotive component manufacturing conglomerates. Its three manufacturing sites are in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, Pune, Maharashtra, and Miraj, South Maharashtra, where it also has its corporate headquarters and registered office. The manufacturing capacity includes the procurement of raw materials and final assembly. The Mahabal group established Mahabal Auto Ancilliaries Pvt. Ltd. as its first superspeciality manufacturing branch in 1991. Six years later, Mahabal Metals Pvt. Ltd. became the company's second industry.
